Training and trainer support
Our training resources
There are a number of online and face-to-face training resources for clinicians to increase their knowledge about advance care planning, explore their biases, understand the legal framework for medical decision-making, improve their clinical communication skills and to effectively document conversations and plans.
Online modules
The following modules are available to complete online:
• Learning and education modules on understanding bias in health care (three modules)
• Level 1 advance care planning (four modules)
• Serious Illness Conversation Guide (SICG) introduction

Support for trainers / Communities of practice
To support trainers at a district level we are developing websites specific to their area of practice. The sites will contain training material, news, research, reports and contact information for other trainers.
If you have completed train-the-trainer training, you can access the sites here:
• Serious Illness Conversation Guide trainers
If you are interested in being trained, have any questions about these sites, or have forgotten your username and password, please contact acp@tewhatuora.govt.nz.
Exploring how the way we work impacts the consumer experience
The video below explores consumers' experiences of communication and decision-making, when things do not go well in health care and a clinician's perspective of what might contribute to that experience.
